About the composition:
"This string trio employs a special technique I developed called "hand-bow."
Instead of using a traditional bow, the bow hair is attached directly to the forearm, while the other end is held with fingers.
This technique creates an extremely fragile sound and allows for dramatic variations in the delicate tonal palette through changes in pressure and holding angle.
"Tuvāk ķermenim" translates as "closer to the body," offering performers a uniquely physical experience. This piece exemplifies my interest in how performers physically experience music. While the score contains traditional and even tonal patterns, it takes on a new dimension as musicians must interpret it not only through their technical skills and musical understanding but also through their physical and mental endurance. The piece challenges performers to openly embrace imperfection, find comfort in discomfort, and trust their intuition.
Its beauty lies in demonstrating that true mastery extends beyond technical skill—it's about grappling with ideas and facing them despite challenging circumstances.
